Meditation Techniques, Tips, and Advice

Not too long ago I was clueless about meditation and went searching for answers and meditation techniques. It took me a long time to track down information about what meditation really was and how to meditate. Everywhere I went was clouded with Eastern religion terminology and mystic new age garble that made it almost impossible to figure out what to do or how it could help me.

After cutting through all the noise and mystery I learned that meditation does not need to complicated, associated with a particular religion, or require years of your life sitting on the top of a mountain. Throughout this website I talk about meditation and meditation techniques in a straight forward manner so that you can gain the benefits of meditation without all the funny robes, beaded cushions, and shaved heads. That being said if you like those kinds of things I will point you in the right direction. Look for links to things you don’t need in the products section to the right.

Types of Meditation

There are probably about as many different types of meditations as there are flowers on the planet. A lot of them are very similar and share techniques as well as results. For those of you who are focused on one particular type of meditation I go into detail about the most popular meditation types with the links to the left. Where appropriate I will tie together related concepts so that you may expand your practice to other types.

For the rest of you, who just want to keep it simple and hit the high points of meditation I have provided the links at the top left which cover all the basics. Once you get started with meditation and develop a daily habit you might want to go further in depth and check out some of the other meditation articles.

Help with Meditation

Most beginners require some help. Again this does not need to be in total seclusion sitting in the full lotus position on the back of a goat in India. You can reap the same benefit from your kitchen chair and a guided meditation CD or other audio format for your iPod. Technology has replaced the cross country trek for enlightenment with the click of a mouse and a few dollars.

In addition to the guided audio formats I provide some great free meditation techniques throughout this entire site. Feel free to browse around or try the search feature and figure out the right path for you.

Regardless of your meditation goals I hope to help you out and provide some clear and straight forward answers to your questions. If you have questions or comments please use the contact page.
